Degree Program

Ph.D.

Located in the heart of Manhattan, NYC, the Ph.D. Program in Economics at the Graduate Center trains students in empirically investigating policy issues, following a solid preparation in econometrics and theory. The focus of the program is to prepare students to apply economic theory and technique to the problems of business and government. The program is designed to educate future researchers and teachers who will contribute to the development and application of knowledge in economics.

CUNY doctoral students may enroll in the Certificate Program in Demography through their home doctoral program. Prospective doctoral students must apply for admission to one of the many doctoral degree programs in the traditional disciplines associated with demography, such as Sociology, Economics, Public Health, and Political Science. Once admitted, a student is then eligible to take demography certificate courses en route to the doctoral degree.
