Deadline
Friday, March 31, 2017A scholarship fund has been established in honor of Henry “Hank” Heitowit, who served as the Director of the ICPSR Summer Program from 1981 to 2007. Hank Heitowit played a major role in making the Summer Program the leading resource for methodological training across the social, behavioral, and health sciences. During his tenure as Director, Hank Heitowit worked tirelessly to provide an optimal experience for participants, maintain the scholarly excellence and high-quality of instruction, and enhance diversity across the Summer Program.
The Heitowit Scholarship will enable a former participant to return to the ICPSR Summer Program. It provides a waiver of Program Scholar (non-credit) fees for one four-week session of the Program. Applicants to the Heitowit Scholarship can come from any academic discipline. They can be at any stage of their professional careers and they can be working in academic or non-academic settings. Regardless of disciplinary backgrounds or career trajectories, all applicants must be former participants in a four-week session of the ICPSR Summer Program.
Applicants for the Heitowit Scholarship should register for at least one four-week workshop. It is not necessary to pay the registration fee in order to apply for this award. Note that workshop selections may be changed later; however, the ICPSR Scholarship Committee may use course preferences as a criterion in the selection process. Applicants should email the following supporting materials directly to sumprog@icpsr.umich.edu:
- A current curriculum vita (or resume for non-academic applicants)
- A statement describing the applicant’s previous participation in the ICPSR Summer Program, including the year of participation and the courses taken during the four-week session.
- A cover letter from the applicant, explaining how returning to a four-week session of the ICPSR Summer Program will benefit his/her professional career objectives.
