University of MichiganDegree Program
Ph.D.The doctoral program in Health Behavior and Health Education prepares professionals for research, teaching, service, and leadership positions with the overall objective of improving the health of populations. To meet this objective, all students in the program are trained to conduct independent research. The primary focus is on applied research that informs the development of interventions and policies to promote health at the individual, community, population, societal, and/or global levels.
Since the School of Public Health grants graduate degrees, and the Population Studies Center does not, prospective Center trainees must apply using the Rackham Graduate School website. In completing the departmental application forms, applicants should indicate in the financial aid section that they are interested in a Population Studies Center Fellowship. They should also write to the Center’s Director of Training (address below) to say that they are applying and wish to be considered for financial aid. More information here.
